First Verses of the Quran
The Quran revelation to God's Messenger Muhammed begins with the word “Read”, Arabic اقرأ. The root of the word "iqra" in Arabic is also the root of the word Quran, which literally means "that which is read".
The chapters in the traditional ordering and the actual revelation order of the Quran are exactly the same. The Quran can be read in any order and in any language. However, the revelation order of the Quran certainly has some messages for humanity. Reading the Quran in the revelation order also makes one understand the historical context and struggle of the first muslims better.
After the mention of Rahman/the Compassionate and Rahim/the Gracious Allah's name (besmele), the first chapter of the Quran is Alak Surah. It has the following 19 verses.
ALAK (Embryo/Love/Clot) SURAH
Bismillahirrahmanirrahim
بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ
With the name of Rahman/the Compassionate and Rahim/the Gracious Allah
1- Read/Call with the name of your creating Lord!
2- He created human from an embryo/a sticky water with attraction/sympathy/hostility.
3- Read! Your Lord is Ekrem/the true source of freedom/the owner of the greatest generosity.
4- It is He who teaches with the pen/it is He who teaches to use the pen.
5- He taught human what s/he did not know.
6- It is not as it is thought! Human really becomes outrageous:
7- S/he has seen herself/himself free from all kinds of needs/from everybody.
8- Yet return is only to your Lord!
9- Have you seen that one who forbids,
10- A subject while performing salat/praying;
11- Have you seen! What if s/he is on goodness and truth?!
12- What if s/he is ordering devotion/piety!
13- Have you seen! What if that denied, turned his back!
14- Hasn't s/he known that Allah truly sees!
15- It is not as it is thought! If he does not give up, let it be an oath that we will absolutely hold and grind that forehead!
16- That liar, that sinner forehead.
17- Come on, let him call his association/council!
18- We, too, will call demons of hell!
19- Beware, beware! Do not submit to him; kowtow and come close!
